The Bowie Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad welcome persons interested in becoming volunteer members. Members can train to become fire fighters, emergency medical technicians, or both. Regular members must be eighteen years old or older. Junior members must be sixteen years old with parental permission to join. Members need to be dedicated and willing to help each other in emergency situations. The Department is also always in search of Auxiliary Members that can help with administrative duties.
There are several classes of member laid out in the Constitution and By-Laws:
The Bowie VFD&RS, Inc. does not -- and never will -- solicit donations by telephone. We never call and ask you to tape your donation to your door for pick-up. We conduct two major fund raising events, a door-to-door Photo Fund Drive in the spring and a Mail Fund Drive in the fall. If you have any questions about our fundraisers please phone our office at 301-809-0122. Thank you for your support!
The Bowie Fire Department, through the dedicated efforts of its members, provides fire education and prevention; fire suppression and rescue; and emergency medical services. These services meet or exceed the expectations of the public and private agencies in order to enhance the quality of life in the City of Bowie.
Operational members, please remember to schedule your shifts using netDuty.
