At 2230 on Tuesday, January 4, 2010 Engine 432 (Bowie/Pointer Ridge) was alerted to a reported barn fire in the area of Queen Anne Road and Queen Marie Court. Engine 432 arrived on-scene to find a barn with heavy fire showing that had partially collapsed, and began suppression operations. Engine 820 (Marlboro) arrived shortly thereafter and established command. Engine 816 (Bowie/Northview) and E820 relayed water to the scene, which was not hydranted, while waiting for Anne Arundel Tanker 3 (Riva) to arrive. Engine 846 (Kentland) went up the driveway of 17001 Queen Anne Road and stretched a hoseline to finish extinguishing the fire. Crews operated for about 30 minutes, and spent another 30 minutes cleaning up and racking hose. Truck 820 (Marlboro) provided scene lighting and assisted with overhaul. The fire was apparently caused by an overturned kerosene heater in the barn. Two goats housed in the barn were found unharmed in the adjacent enclosure. Battalion Chief 802 (Chief 18) had command. Units cleared the scene at about 2330.
