On Monday December 28, 2009, members of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department delivered approximately 1,170 food items to the Bowie Interfaith Food Pantry. The items were collected from the community by the crews from all Bowie Volunteer Fire Department stations during our annual Santa rides. This is our second year working on this project; during the 2008 holiday season the Department collected about 1,000 items for the food bank. Although each station lost several nights of Santa rides due to a snow storm, we managed to surpass last year's collection. The Department would like to thank everyone in Bowie who was able to contribute to the food drive this year.
