Community - Last year the Bowie VFD graciously accepted 17 full shopping carts worth of donations for the Bowie Interfaith Pantry and Emergency Aid Fund during our annual Santa drives. Knowing that the need for help is at an all time high this year, we aspired to beat last year's total. On Monday November 11th Volunteers from the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department took time out to participate in the ceremony at Veterans Park in Old Town. We will always be thankful for all that serve our country in uniform. The local Armed Services groups do a wonderful job producing the program each year, and our members are honored to support the event.
Bowie Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Fire Extinguisher Team members participated in the Mount Oak Church Fall Festival on Saturday October 26th. The BVFD appreciates the invitation to participate in community events. Our members were able to share fire safety information and fire extinguisher demonstrations with all that attended.
The CPR for Bowie team is a group of Bowie Volunteer Fire Department members who are dedicated to sharing lifesaving CPR and AED skills with the public. On Wednesday October 23rd our team was hosted a class of students from around Prince Georges County to help them complete their training as part of Volunteer Recruit School. On Monday October 21st Volunteers from Bowie Volunteer Fire Department provided hands on Fire Extinguisher Training the the Fire Cadet Class at Charles Flowers High School. The BVFD is proud to share this training to Fire Service Members and citizens throughout the area using our Bullex Training Tool. On Wednesday September 25th several Bowie VFD members participated in the Annual Prince Georges County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association Convention Memorial Service. 3 members of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department who passed away in the last year were among the 30 Fire/EMS and 10 Auxiliary Volunteers honored. We thank everyone for their work to provide our members the recognition for many of Volunteer service to the citizens of Bowie.

Members of the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department hosted the Maryland State Firemans Association EMS Committee at Company 43 today. We provided lunch from Jersey Mike's for the group prior to the start of their meeting in the Robert Wright Training Hall. We appreciate them taking time to mention the large amount of training for our citizens and the Fire / EMS service held in our facility. We hope they enjoyed the Bowie hospitality.
The Bowie Volunteer Fire Department was proud to host a pitstop for the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride. This is the 3rd year we have been asked to provide support for the group. This group starts tours front multiple points to meet for a ceremony at National Harbor to honor fallen EMS providers around the country. We were able to show some Bowie hospitality by providing snacks, drinks, and a place for them to make quick repairs. We look forward to them visiting Old Town again next year.
As has become a tradition, the City of Bowie held their annual Bike To Work Day stop at Company 19 in Old Town early Friday morning. Each year the city sets up a stop to provide citizens participating in Bike to Work Day with snacks and safety items. The Bowie Volunteer Fire Department is always ready to support our city, that supports us well.

The Bowie VFD&RS, Inc. does not -- and never will -- solicit donations by telephone. We never call and ask you to tape your donation to your door for pick-up. We conduct two major fund raising events, a door-to-door Photo Fund Drive in the spring and a Mail Fund Drive in the fall.
